VICTORIAN VULCANTITE MOURNING BROOCH
An antique Victorian mourning brooch made of vulcanite, also known as ebonite, and carved in a hand holding flowers and a wreath.
The pin has the registry design number (RD) 13623 dating the brooch to 1889.
Vulcanite is the process of treating rubber with sulphur as was patented in 1844 in England by Thomas Hancock.
Condition: In good antique condition ~ the pin is slightly bent but still fastens securely.
